""An Open Letter of Recommendation for Scott E. Langley – a RE/MAX
It is with great pleasure that my wife Cecelia and I recommend Scott E. Langley as a realtor and agent for anyone planning to buy or sell a home. Our experience with Scott began over a year ago. At the time, Cecelia and I were interested in selling our home in Spanish Fort, AL and buying a home in the Auburn/Opelika area in the $200K price range. We initially contacted Scott and several other realtors with our plans, and looked at many homes in our price range in this area. Due to the decline in the value of our home with the nationwide economic downturn, we put our plans on hold, but remained interested in purchasing a home. Scott was the only realtor that stayed in contact with us when it became apparent that we wouldn’t buy right away. Scott sent us e-mails on a regular basis with homes in our price range.
After a year, we realized that due to the current buyer’s market, we should wait to sell our home and look for a great deal on a second home. We contacted Scott again with plans to purchase a home for less than $150K if possible. Scott worked hard on our behalf, taking us to view homes after regular business hours and on weekends. He helped us find a great deal on a new home foreclosure, and acted on our behalf to negotiate with the seller. Scott has experience in all phases of home construction as a former builder, and used his wealth of knowledge to give us sound advice on many details that translated into huge savings and economic security for us in the purchase of our new home.
Scott also helped us save money by recommending a loan officer who offered a great interest rate and low closing costs. Scott helped us qualify for the $6500 federal tax credit for home-buyers. He recommended a first-rate building inspector, who identified repairs needed for our new home. Scott successfully negotiated with the seller to pay for the repairs and also to pay a substantial portion of the closing costs.
Scott educated us throughout the home purchasing process, and made sure that we understood everything we needed to know going into closing, so we’d be clear on the meaning of the legal documents we signed at closing.
Looking back on our experience in working with Scott, we realize that his persistence enabled us to avoid delays and complete the buying process quickly before the buyer’s market disappeared and interest rates began going up. After closing, we compared our home-buying experience with that of two of our neighbors who bought homes nearly identical to ours. We appreciated Scott even more when we learned that he had done a much better job of negotiating with the same seller they bought from than their respective agents had done. Scott had negotiated with the seller to pay for more of our closing costs and pre-purchase home repairs than happened with our neighbors.
Scott is a most dependable team player. His good judgment and professional demeanor ensure that his partners receive a level of service that is unparalleled in the realty profession. He was always reachable, and always promptly responsive, regardless of the hour or day of the week and what else he had going on. He was always responsive to our every question or concern. Scott is a credit to the realty profession and to RE/MAX. We were unfamiliar with RE/MAX prior to working with Scott, but now have the highest opinion of both Scott and RE/MAX. We would gladly do business again with Scott and RE/MAX, and will continue to give them our highest recommendation to anyone considering a home purchase or sale."
